Scouts in Torfaen District
The start of the adventure for young people aged 11-14!

Welcome to the Scouts section. Scouts are young people, girls and boys, between the ages of 11 and 14.
Scouting allows the development of personal skills, attitudes and values. It encourages the growth of the young persons natural talents in areas such as creativity, adventure, exploration and practical skills.
Scouts are encouraged to take part in as many activities and challenges as possible and to take part in and complete badge work. The aim of the badges are to make new activities accessible and to give a sense of purpose and achievement.
Being outdoors is a very important part of scouting and half the program is dedicated to camping, outdoor activities, survival skills and any other activities that are suggested at the weekly meetings. Scouts have a greater control over the programme and what they want to achieve from their scouting lives.
Fundamentally, scouting is about friends and learning to work in teams as well as encouraging independant thought. Such skills are invaluable and are taken with each individual as they progress in to adulthood.
