Explorer Scouts in Torfaen District
Explorer scouts are aged between 14-18 years old. In Torfaen the explorers are called the Freespirit ESU (Explorer Scout Unit) and are not attached to another group. Working independently they undertake many activities and can do more adventurous things.
The aim of explorers is to be run by the Unit and to do tasks and activities. One advantage is that Explorers have the opportunity to become a young leader and to do the Duke of Edinburgh awards.
- gain the knowledge, skills and confidence required to become an effective Leader.
- further their own personal development.
- work towards other Awards for example The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
- acquire the skills that are needed for the Scouts Adult Training Scheme.
